NSS observes Women’s Day
Aligarh “If you educate a woman, you educate the whole generation, and it is truly reflected in the form of the widening role of women in every sphere of society”, said Dr Hameeda Tariq, renowned paediatrician while addressing the student volunteers at a programme held by the AMU Chapter of National Service Scheme, marking the International Women’s Day.
She urged women to stand against any kind of discrimination and assert their right to equality and freedom for the larger benefits of society.
Dr Salma Shaheen, Principal, Women’s Polytechnic discussed at length the theme of the day for 2020, “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”.
Another guest of honour, Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Director, UGC Human Resource Development Centre called on women to educate themselves and contribute to the social, political and economic development of the country.
Earlier, Dr Arshad Husain, Programme Coordinator, NSS, welcomed the guests and discussed the importance of the women’s day in realizing women’s rights and empowering them on equal terms with their counterparts in the social order.
A large number of student volunteers attended the programme.
