DDC Rajouri calls for effective surveillance, timely reporting of cases to prevent CoronaVirus spread

Rajouri: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today reviewed the preparedness to avert spread of CoronaVirus in the district here at a meeting with concerned officers.
The DDC called for effective surveillance and timely response of cases to prevent Corona Virus spread in the district.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf, Deputy Director Planning, Bilal Rashid Mir, District Panchayat Officer, Dr.Abdul Khabir, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Rajouri, Dr Raghuveer Singh, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr.Anees Altaf Nabi, District Immunization Officer, Dr Shakti Kumar, Community Health Officer Rajouri, District Health Officer, Dr Khalid Hussain and concerned Block Medical Officers.
Medical Superintendent informed that the help and monitoring point being set up by the health department at Sunderbani is working 24/7 where the screening of the foreign returners is being done. He also informed that the medical staff has been deployed at the location of help desk and monitoring point has been equipped with necessary logistics to enable them to handle the task and tackling any suspected case. He also informed that an emergency cell exclusively for the patients having symptoms of CoronaVirus infection has been established at GMC where after screening, the suspected patients shall be sent to isolation ward.
The DDC sought a detailed account from the block medical officers about the activities being carried out in their blocks for prevention of coronavirus. It was informed that panchayat, zonal and block level committees have been constituted to sensitize the public about coronavirus and ways to prevent it and also to get information about their travel history.
The DDC asked the concerned health officers to remain alert and ensure that the necessary information is provided at right time so that suitable action can be taken at the earliest to avoid any chaos. He said that the need of the hour is to spread mass awareness among the general public about the cause of spread of virus and measures to prevent it. He asked the Block Medical Officers to sensitise the Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and Village level workers of their blocks about the virus who in turn will spread the required information among common masses. He also directed them to ensure that the surveillance teams of their block move in all the panchayats so that no case of the said virus remains unchecked in the district. He also asked for effective surveillance and timely reporting of cases so that CoronaVirus infection can be prevented from being spread in the district.
