Registration is open for the 15th edition of the L’Oréal-UNESCO-ABC for Women in Science Awards
The program, which has already awarded 96 young scientists in Brazil, receives projects until May 8
Rio de Janeiro, March 9, 2020 – Registration is now open for the program For Women in Science, which this year celebrates 15 years in Brazil. Held by L´Oréal, in partnership with UNESCO in Brazil and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, the award aims to promote and recognize the participation of women in science, favoring gender balance in the Brazilian scenario. Every year, in the local edition, seven young researchers in the areas of Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics are awarded a grant of R$ 50,000 each to continue their studies.
Registration for the program runs until May 8 and the winners will be announced in August. To participate, it is necessary that the candidate has completed her doctorate starting 01/01/2013, has a permanent residence in Brazil, develops research projects in national institutions, among other requirements. Over these 15 years, the Women in Science Awards has recognized and encouraged 96 Brazilian scientists, rewarding the relevance of their work, distributing more than R$ 4.2 million in aid grants.
