Anti-Drug Awareness Program at Institute of Management Studies (IMS) Noida

Noida – An impactful anti-drug awareness program was successfully conducted at the Institute of Management Studies (IMS) Noida. The primary objective of this program was to empower the youth with knowledge and understanding of the detrimental social and health consequences associated with illicit drug use. The event included various activities such as poster making, slogan writing, discussions, and an oath-taking ceremony.

During the program, Dr. Kulneet Suri, Senior Director of IMS Noida, addressed the attendees and emphasized that smoking and substance abuse serve as the fundamental causes of tuberculosis and numerous other harmful diseases. Tobacco consumption, in particular, has been linked to the development of cancer. It is crucial to save our nation from the clutches of addiction as it weakens the potential of our youth, who represent the backbone of our country.

Dr. Suri further elaborated on the long-term effects of smoking, highlighting the increased risks of lung and trachea cancer. Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, largely attributed to excessive smoking. During the program, students took a pledge to refrain from drug use and actively discourage their peers from falling victim to it.

Barsha Chhabaria, the program’s coordinator, expressed that this campaign served as an eye-opener for the students, creating awareness about the severe diseases caused by smoking, substance abuse, and the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption. Drug addiction is not a singular problem; it breeds various other issues such as violence and corruption. Intoxication has become a significant factor contributing to the creation of numerous problems in our society.
