King’s College London experts intervene into homelessness, self-neglect and safeguarding with social work students

At a special homelessness-focused Social Work teaching afternoon at University of London’s Senate House, HSCWRU PPIE Advisory Group member, Stan Burridge, shared lived experience insights and Jess Harris presented emerging findings from the Unit’s School for Social Care Research funded Adult safeguarding, homelessness and self-neglect study. Chair Karl Mason convened the Q&A and challenged the 21 participating MSc students to describe successes and to suggest innovations in social work teaching on homelessness.

The discussion will inform the HSCWRU Addressing multiple exclusion homelessness in social work education project, which will shortly undertake a Call for Evidence from social work qualifying courses across England.
