University of Amsterdam welcomes new president of the Flow Chemistry Society

The Flow Chemistry Society has appointed Prof. Timothy Noël as its next president. Noël, professor of Flow Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam’s Van ’t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences, succeeds Dr Ferenc Darvas, founder and first president of the society.

The appointment of Noël constitutes a significant leadership transition as Dr Darvas has been president for the past 13 years, shaping the society into a vibrant and cohesive community. “We extend our utmost gratitude to Dr Darvas for his invaluable contributions,” says Noël. “His mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support have empowered countless individuals within the society, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

Noël is humbled to continue the work initiated by Dr Darvas that has resulted in the Flow Chemistry Society becoming a focal point of the growing community of flow chemists. This has led to substantial contributions that have expanded the field e.g. to green chemistry, industrial synthesis of active principle of pharmaceuticals (APIs), polymer chemistry, and even space chemistry. He is honoured to be at the helm into the Society’s next phase of growth and innovation and aims to consolidate the discipline of Flow Chemistry and integrate it across all levels of academia and industry. “Together, we will strive to foster collaboration, innovation, and excellence within our community.”
