GDC Reasi gears up to start activities under ‘Meri Mati Mere Desh’ Program

In this regard, the NSS volunteers and Programme Officer today visited Panchayat Seela-the adopted village of the College to organize a preliminary meeting with the people for the implementation of the Meri Mat Mera Desh Programme launched by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
They discussed the various issues pertaining to the Plantation drive to be conducted on 26th July, 2023 and also framed a strategy for making the drive successful.
The NSS Programme Officer & convener of the meeting briefed the people about the Programme and appealed for their maximum participation. Further, he informed that near about 75 saplings of indigenous nature will be planted as a part of the Programme preferably in a single cluster to be commonly known as “Amrit Vatika”.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Kumar, Sarpanch Seela Panchayat welcomed the Programme Officer and volunteers from GGZSMDC College Reasi and highlighted the importance of the Meri Mati Mera Desh Programme of the government.
Further, he assured maximum participation of the villagers in the Programme. During the meeting four different locations were identified for the plantation of trees on 26th July i.e. Primary School Khaletar and Guru Nabha Dass ji Temple, Middle School Lower Seela, Guru Ravi Dass ji Temple and Middle School Upper Seela.
The volunteers also visited different places like Amrit Sarovars and Bowlis in the panchayat to be covered in the upcoming projects.
The people were also made aware of the Yuva Portal and anti-drug Abuse campaign. Other prominent persons present on the occasion included Sham Lal (Panch), Pritam Chand (Panch), Mubarak Hussain (Panchayat Secretary), Shiv Dass etc.
After the meeting, the volunteers participated in Poster making and Video Message Programme to mark “International Literacy Week” celebration.
