KLH Hyderabad Joins Green India Challenge; Pledges to Protect the Environment and Foster Sustainability
Hyderabad : KLH Hyderabad Campus of KL Deemed to be University – India’s leading University participated in the Green India Challenge, a noble initiative launched by the honorable Rajya Sabha MP, J Santhosh Kumar. This participation was part of the prestigious Haritha Haram program, initiated by the honorable Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, aimed at increasing the green cover in the state.
According to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of India, Telangana witnessed a remarkable increase in its green cover from 21% to 29% in 2022. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the massive efforts made by the Telangana government and the dedication of individuals like Rajya Sabha MP J Santhosh Kumar.
KLH Hyderabad campus shares the vision of a greener and more sustainable future. The university has taken up the responsibility of tree plantation on a significant scale, keeping in mind the well-being of future generations. The participation in the Green India Challenge is a natural extension of the university’s commitment to environmental conservation and nurturing a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
On this momentous occasion, Dr. A Ramakrishna, Principal, KLH Hyderabad campus along with the faculty, staff, and enthusiastic students, gathered to plant saplings. Driven by a deep love for nature, he emphasized the critical role of trees as lifelines for humans and animals alike. He expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for launching the Haritha Haram program, which aims to increase the green cover to an impressive 33% in Telangana.
The Green India Challenge, a nationwide movement initiated by Rajya Sabha MP J Santhosh Kumar, has gained immense traction since its launch. It encourages individuals, educational institutions, corporate entities, and communities to actively participate in tree plantation drives, thereby contributing to the larger goal of increasing the green cover across the country.
