University of South Africa participates at The Royal Agriculture Show
The Royal Agricultural Show (The Royal) in Pietermaritzburg is the largest mixed exhibition incorporating a fully-fledged agricultural component in Africa. This includes the exposition of some of the country’s finest livestock and agricultural equipment and a range of ancillary activities and displays covering the province’s industrial, commercial and service sectors.
The Royal is a significant event that brings together the agricultural community and the general public. It offers a platform for education, entertainment, and appreciation of the agricultural industry while promoting local businesses and supporting the region’s economy, focusing on emerging farmers and youth development.
By providing financial assistance to students interested in pursuing studies in agriculture, The Royal helps to promote education and skills development in this critical field. Focusing on the youth, it nurtures the next generation of agricultural leaders and professionals. Providing bursaries to study agriculture at tertiary institutions allows young people to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in agriculture. It also encourages them to consider agriculture as a viable and rewarding career.
Unisa’s marketing team in Hall 4 at the Royal Agriculture Show provided an excellent opportunity for current and prospective students considering enrolling at Unisa. They learned more about the university’s learning environment, facilities, student support services, and other information they needed.
The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences curated a display showcasing aspects of the agricultural and natural sciences. The exhibition was captivating and allowed visitors to learn more about the field, discuss related topics and studying at Unisa.
