Plantation Drive for Sustainability and Environmental Consciousness
Aligarh : A plantation drive was organized on July 19, 2023, at the Department of Post Harvest Engineering & Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff who came together to contribute to a greener future. The initiative aimed at fostering sustainability and environmental consciousness, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
Under the guidance of Dr. Z. R. A. A. Azad, Chairman of the Department, 18 saplings of various fruit-bearing trees were planted. The selection included Mango (Langda), Nimbu, Anjeer, Bel Patthar, Jamun, Shahtoot, and Kathal, showcasing a diverse range of plants for a sustainable environment.
Dr. Azad emphasized the impact of a greener and healthier environment on our lives and urged everyone to expand the green cover of the campus. He called upon the AMU fraternity to take responsibility for the university’s premises and the planet.
The hands-on experience gained by the students during the program was invaluable, promoting a sense of responsibility and care for the environment and collectively building a more sustainable and environmentally conscious campus and society.
