Geology students bring laurels to the university
ALIGARH: Faris Beg, a student at the Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University, has been selected for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programme in Planetary Geosciences (GeoPlanet-EMJM), along with the award of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
Prof Kr. Farahim Khan, Chairman of the department said that Beg will study the first semester of the programme at Universidade de Coimbra (Potugal), the second semester at Universita d’Annunzio di Chieti-Prescara (Italy), the third semester at the Nantes Universite (France) and the fourth semester in a partner organization (worldwide).
He has also received offers for the prestigious “Invest Your Talent in Italy” scholarship to pursue MS Geophysics at the University of Pisa, an ‘installation grant’ from the University of Rome La Sapienza, and was shortlisted for the Inlaks Scholarship grant.
Meanwhile, in another development, five students of the Department of Geology qualified for the post of Assistant Geologist in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, after cracking the recruitment test and interview conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
Prof Farahim Khan said that the successful students are Mohammad Qasim Raza, Masarul Islam, Mohammad Saqib, Hilal Ali and Mohd Tahir Khan.
