Governor Tandon holds discussion with Vice-Chancellors through video conferencing

Bhopal :Governor Shri Lalji Tandon held a discussion with the Vice Chancellors of the universities of the state through video conferencing to tackle Corona virus crisis. He told the Vice Chancellors that India is also not untouched by this worldwide crisis of Corona virus. It is a matter of satisfaction that the Prime Minister’s foresight and poignant appeal has made a deep impact on the hearts of the countrymen. In adherence to the Janata curfew, people are restraining themselves in the 21-day lockdown by staying home and helping to protect against the deadly virus.

Shri Lalji Tandon said that the results of efforts made by universities to prevent infection are satisfactory. He said that in this phase of lockdown, all the students are at home. The university staff is also at home. Therefore it is important that the energy of youth is used positively. Students should carry out social responsibilities along with studies at home. University faculty guide them using ICT technology. Shri Tandon said that the outbreak of Corona virus has not yet spread to the villages. Therefore, students must be connected with this social campaign so that they realize their responsibilities. Students should spread the basics of Corona prevention among people.

The Governor said that not weapn but self-control and restraint is needed for fighting Corona. Therefore, all the Vice Chancellors should discharge their social responsibility from their homes and also make arrangements for online education for students.

Vice Chancellors of Jiwaji University-Gwalior, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya-Indore, Barkatullah University-Bhopal, Vikram University-Ujjain, RGPV-Bhopal, Avadhesh Pratap Singh University-Rewa, Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University-Jabalpur, Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya University – Chitrakoot, Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University – Jabalpur, Open Bhoj University of Bhopal-Madhya Pradesh Ayurvigyan Vishwavidyalaya-Jabalpur, Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University- Chhatarpur and University Chhindwada took part in the video conferencing.

The Vice-Chancellors said that they have sent information related to Corona to all the students through SMS, whatsapp and e-mail and have asked the students to spread it to as many people as possible. During the discussion with the Vice Chancellors, it was learned that so far about 48 lakh students of the state have joined this campaign. In addition, all professors, officers and employees associated with universities have given their one day salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

During the conferencing the Vice-Chancellors told that all universities are providing online platforms for their students to study. Apart from this, medicines, sanitizers, masks and food should also be made available to the people who have stayed in the university.

Governor Shri Tandon dedicated the half-yearly magazine “Pravah” online at Raj Bhavan. All universities will be able to see this magazine focusing on the activities of Raj Bhavan on their website.
