University Of Massachusetts Amherst Associate Professor Named Eatured Panelist At Cambridge Disinformation Summit

Joshua Braun, associate professor of journalism, was a featured panelist at the first-of-its-kind Cambridge Disinformation Summit, held July 27-28 at King’s College in Cambridge.

The summit convened global thought leaders from psychology, journalism, financial reporting, political science and related information science fields and private sector firms who are tackling problems of disinformation on a variety of fronts, from propaganda to COVID-19 hoaxes to online conspiracy theories and information warfare.

Braun’s panel, “Profiteering: the business of disinformation,” discussed the monetization of disinformation via digital advertising.

Emma Briant, the researcher who helped to bring the Cambridge Analytica scandal to light, and Marie Santini, who studies disinformation campaigns affecting Brazilian politics were also on the panel.
