Ural Federal University: Summer University Project Presented New Opportunities for Students from Different Countries
On Friday the closing ceremony of the Summer University took place at UrFU. For two weeks students from different parts of the world have been studying, working on projects and getting acquainted with Ekaterinburg.
“Two bright and intense weeks of the Summer University are behind us,” Viсtor Koksharov, the UrFU rector, addressed the participants. – You had time to listen to lectures of our professors, to participate in projects, but most importantly – to get acquainted with your peers from different countries. We will gladly repeat this project every year and fill it with new colors. I would like to thank the team of organizers, teachers and volunteers who were with the participants throughout the project”.
Victor Koksharov also suggested to the international participants to consider the possibility of continuing their studies in a master’s or postgraduate program at UrFU or other Russian universities, after which they could return to their home countries as highly qualified specialists.
“Our joint work with partner universities will continue, we will sign cooperation agreements, develop joint educational programs and scientific projects,” the rector said.
At the closing ceremony the best projects worked on by the students were announced. The best project in Russian language is related to humanitarian direction and is called “Skryzhavanne.Peresechenie.Chorroҳa” (participants: Artem Sarzhenko, Anna Savinich, Kimyohon Safoeva and Alexandra Verovka). The winner among the English-language projects is “AlternOVation”, it is related to innovation in business (participants: Pandya Keivalya Bhartendu, Zou Ruiyan, Bitne Chinmay Omkar, Liu Wanchene).
300 students from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Serbia, Brazil, India, Vietnam, China, Colombia, Yemen, Egypt and Turkmenistan came to UrFU to participate in the Summer University. At the same time, the project was launched at the Kazan Federal University (Volga Region) and the Siberian Federal University. In total, more than 1,200 students from 25 countries took part.
“I really enjoyed the time spending in Ekaterinburg and at UrFU,” said Dayana Spanova, a student at Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz. – I made new friends from different countries and learned about new cultures. Ekaterinburg is so diverse and colorful. I was very interested in doing a joint project in the group – we created an application about education. It’s an amazing experience, it feels like we’ve been here for a whole year. I liked the university, there are many directions and very good faculty. I even thought about coming here.”
