University of Göttingen launches Germany and Lower Saxony Scholarships

The University of Göttingen is inviting applications for this year’s round of the “Deutschlandstipendium” and the “Niedersachsenstipendium”. From 1 to 30 September 2023, students at Göttingen University can apply for the grants. Both scholarships do not count toward Bafög.

The Deutschlandstipendium supports students for one year with 300 euros per month. Half of the sum required for a one-year scholarship is raised by the University from private sponsors and from the business community; the other half is then supplemented from federal funds in a matching process. Donors can contact the university until 10 October 2023 if they would like to support students. In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients can also benefit from non-material support through courses and workshops.

The Lower Saxony Scholarship is funded by the state of Lower Saxony and includes a one-time payment of 500 euros each. A total of 281 one-time scholarships can be awarded to students. This year’s scholarships will be paid out in December 2023.

All students of the University of Göttingen, with the exception of doctoral students, can apply for both scholarships. Those who start their studies in Göttingen at the beginning of the winter semester 2023/2024 can apply after enrollment.
