Expert Talk on Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property at ZHCET

 

Aligarh : A session titled “Entrepreneurship: College to Corporate – IPR & Beyond” captivated attendees on August 22 at Assembly Hall of AMU’s Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology. Jointly organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and the Intellectual Property Right (IPR) Cell of the college under the G-20 initiative, the event achieved significant success.

The guest speaker, Mr. Raj Kumar Dubey, an alumnus of the University of California, Davis, and the Managing Partner of Dubey & Partner, known for his expertise in Intellectual Property Planning, in his presentation elucidated the journey of startups, unraveling their various developmental phases. He also discussed an array of schemes supporting budding entrepreneurs across the nation. Particularly enlightening were explanations regarding diverse forms of intellectual property—trademarks, patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and industrial designs.

In his welcome address Prof. M. M. Sufyan Beg, Principal of ZHCET underscored entrepreneurship’s importance for young technocrats. He stressed the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in safeguarding innovation, aligning with the ethos of ZHCET.

The audience gained insights into patent filing processes in India and the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) framework, with emphasis on the pivotal role of intellectual property in startup asset valuation, he added.

Mr. Ale Imran, Faculty Coordinator of EDC, guided the proceedings. The session concluded by vote of thanks from Mr. Mohd Imran, Faculty Coordinator of IPR.

With over 60 engaged participants, the talk not only offered valuable insights but also nurtured an entrepreneurial spirit and heightened IP awareness.
