Legal awareness programme held on NDPS and POCSO Acts
ALIGARH : The Legal Aid Cell, Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Centre, Kerala, in association with the District Legal Service Authority, Manjeri, organized a legal awareness programme for the migrant labourers on the NDPS and POCSO Acts at the Municipal Town Hall, Manjeri.
Shri Murali Krishna S (District and Sessions Judge and Chairman DLSA, Manjeri) delivered the inaugural address while Shri Jayaprakash Narayanan K (District Labour Officer, Malappuram) presided over the inaugural function.
Shri Shabir Ibrahim M (Sub Judge and Secretary, DLSA Manjeri) welcomed the guests and the participants and the vote of thanks was proposed by Smt. Anitha V.G (Section Officer, DLSA, Manjeri).
Shri K.M Baburaj (Preventive Officer, Excise Range Office, Ponnani) conducted a session on the NDPS Act, while the AMU students conducted two sessions on the POCSO and NDPS Acts. The programme marked the inauguration of a campaign carried out by the DLSA to spread legal awareness about the NDPS and POCSO Acts throughout the district.
Dr. Faisal KP (Director, AMU Malappuram Centre) and Dr Shahnawaz Ahmed Malik (Coordinator, Department of Law) provided guidance to the Legal Aid Cell of the centre and urged the students to work to create legal awareness among a less privileged section of the society.
