Central University of Tamil Nadu Celebrates National Sports Day with Mini Marathon and Yoga Lecture Series Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu

The Department of Physical Education and Sports at the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) organized a vibrant Mini Marathon event to commemorate National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff of CUTN. The Mini Marathon took place within the university campus and aimed to promote an active and healthy lifestyle among the university community.
The Mini Marathon was inaugurated by Prof. R. Thirumurugan, the Registrar of CUTN, who flagged off the Marathon. Prof. M. Krishnan, the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu, graced the occasion and distributed cash prizes and awards to the winners and participants marathon and other events conducted for National Sports Day. Prof. M. Krishnan and Registrar Prof. R. Thirumurugan led the participants in taking a pledge to dedicate 30 minutes each day to their fitness and well-being, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. Prof. M. Krishnan also highlighted the significance of sports in holistic development and overall well-being.
In a subsequent event, the university concluded its enlightening lecture series on yoga with a final lecture and valedictory ceremony. Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Krishnan extended his appreciation to the Chief Guest, Dr. KS Balasubramanian, Director of Kuppusamy Sastri Research Institute Chennai. During his address, the Vice Chancellor reiterated the essential role that sports and yoga play in leading a healthy and balanced life.
The welcome address for the event was delivered by Prof. Maniazhagu, the Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports. Dr. Jayaraman, Associate Professor, conveyed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, contributors, and attendees.
