AMU faculty member attends Confucian Studies Summer Institute programme
ALIGARH : Mr Mohammad Yasin, Assistant Professor of Chinese, Department of Foreign Languages, Aligarh Muslim University attended the “Confucian Studies Summer Institute 2023”, organized by the International Confucian Association and Beijing Foreign Studies University, China.
The Confucian Studies Summer Institute international programme 2023 offered teachers of Chinese history and culture an opportunity to spend 13 days in Danyang City of Jiangsu Province, China to hone skills and understanding of Chinese philosophy and how it differs from the Western philosophy.
The Summer Institute programme included the 10 sessions of cultural study classes conducted in English, 10 sessions of classes conducted in Mandarin Chinese, cultural exchange and 2 days of cultural practice classes conducted in Suzhou and Zhenjiang.
The keynote speakers included the world-famous teacher of comparative Chinese-Western philosophy, Professor Roger T. Ames (Peking University) and Honorary Advisor of the International Confucian Association, Professor Tian Chenshan.
Mr Yasin was one of the two sponsored participants from India, amongst 58 scholars and professors of Sinology and China Studies from 22 countries, who attended the programme. He is a PhD candidate at the Center for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and also a recipient of the prestigious Institute of Chinese Studies-Harvard Yenching Institute Multi-Year PhD Fellowship.
His recent publications appeared on the websites of the Institute of Chinese Studies, Nepal Institute of International Cooperation and Engagement, and the Quint.
