US Secretary of Commerce, to Address U-M’s Ford School of Public Policy
DATE: 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023
EVENT: “Policy Talks @ the Ford School”
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo will connect with policy students and give a keynote talk as part of the University of Michigan’s 2023 Homecoming weekend.
Betsey Stevenson, professor of public policy and economics and a former chief economist of the U.S. Department of Labor during the Obama administration, will facilitate the conversation with Raimondo.
“Secretary Raimondo is leading the Commerce Department at an important moment in the United States,” Stevenson said. “The U.S. economy continues to recover from the widespread disruption caused by the global pandemic and yet new disruptions from climate change and artificial intelligence are on the horizon.
“I look forward to talking to Secretary Raimondo about the unique challenges and opportunities that the U.S. economy currently faces and how her work and that of her agency will ensure the United States successfully meets those challenges.”
Ford School Dean Celeste Watkins-Hayes said Raimondo “is a dynamic leader with a broad and important portfolio in the Biden administration.”
“We’re so grateful for the opportunity for our community to engage with her,” Watkins-Hayes said.
