Aston University welcomes digital transformation expert
Aston University has announced the arrival of digital transformation expert Professor Alexeis Garcia Perez to its College of Business and Social Sciences.
Professor Garcia Perez will join the University on 11 September 2023.
He moves from Coventry University, where he was professor of management information systems and led the Data, Organisations and Society research group within the Centre for Business in Society.
Since 2017, he has been a visiting research scholar at Georgetown University.
His research focuses on some of the key challenges of digital transformation strategies in organisations and society. These include the technical requirements, organisational dynamics, legal frameworks and knowledge-based considerations in the adoption of technologies within critical infrastructure sectors.
His recent activity has focused on data-driven innovations, cyber security management and digital resilience strategies with funding from organisations from the private and public sectors including Network Rail, EPSRC, the European Commission and local government authorities.
Professor Garcia Perez currently leads a Horizon Europe project that contributes to the sustainability, efficiency and safety of the European transport ecosystem. In addition, he serves as a cyber security advisor for a number of UK and international bodies.
On joining Aston University as a professor of digital business & society, he said:

“In particular, I plan to work with the College of Business and Social Sciences and the new Aston Digital Futures Institute to advance our understanding of emerging digital technologies and shape a more secure and inclusive digital future.”
