Cancer Awareness Camp held at IIT Bhubaneswar

 

Bhubaneswar : Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has organized a Free Cancer Awareness Health Camp, in association with Cuttack-based HCG Panda Cancer Hospital on 23rd September, with an objective to detect and diagnose Cancer at its early stages and to increase awareness about the disease. The camp was exclusively organized for the women members of IIT Bhubaneswar Campus.
At the outset, Dr. Nitish Ranjan Acharya, Surgical Oncologist, HCG Panda Cancer Hospital, delivered an awareness talk on cancer and its early detection. He elaborately discussed the role of HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Vaccines in prevention of Cervical Cancer in young women. The talk was followed by individual consultation. Special provision for PAP Smear tests was also arranged for the eligible women.
On behalf of IIT Bhubaneswar, the Team of Sanjeevan Health Centre, led by Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Senior Medical Officer coordinated the programme. A seven-member team from the hospital conducted the camp. Around 50 women members of the Institute participated in the camp and received the benefits of this programme.
