UrFU Embarks on Ambitious Development of Chinese Projects
The work of the Ural Institute of the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power (NCWU) and the foundation of the Luoyang-Ural University in China have proved to be successful practices of international cooperation. This was stated by Victor Koksharov, rector of the Ural Federal University, at the forum in Zhengzhou. To recall, UrFU plans to launch six new educational programs for 1000 Chinese students by 2025.
“Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin called the cooperation between our two countries unique,” Koksharov reminded. – They called to accelerate all processes of interstate interaction and get results as soon as possible, including the ones in the field of education and science, which is what our efforts are aimed at”.
The head of the university told the forum participants about the key federal initiatives of Russia in the field of higher education, including the national project “Science and Universities”, the program of academic leadership “Priority-2030”, the creation of networks of world-class scientific and educational centers, carbon polygons, modern campuses.
Victor Koksharov paid special attention to projects for international students, including in light of the planned changes in approaches to the higher education system.
“Our practices of working with the alumni community around the world, as well as the long-established instruments of international cooperation that have shown their effectiveness, coupled with our experience in training international students, have formed the image of the university as a platform for public diplomacy and a reliable partner in science and education, which makes us attractive to applicants, teachers and scientists from all over the world,” added the rector of UrFU. – All the more so that now the university will have a modern campus, the first stage of which has already been put into operation”.
The International Forum on Higher Education “Universities and Innovations” was organized last Sunday in the Chinese province of Henan by the regional government with the support of local associations of higher education of the province of international exchange in the field of education.
In addition to Chinese experts, representatives of the academic community from the United States and Great Britain took part in the discussion.
