#Maharashtra Education Dept announces cancellation of exams due to COVID-19 outbreak and extension of lockdown
Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad today announced that due to the prevalence of COVID-19 outbreak and extension of lockdown across the state, the education department has decided to cancel the Geography and Work Experience paper of Class 10 board exams.
She also said that annual exams of class 9 and class XI have also been called off. The minister said that students will be graded as per previous semester’s overall performance.
Meanwhile, at least 134 people have tested positive for Coronavirus in Maharashtra today, taking the state’s tally to 1,895. 113 new cases were reported from Mumbai city and seven from Mira-Bhayandar in neighbouring Thane district.
The Mumbai Civic body has deployed a team of 150 doctors and nurses for health screening of citizens residing in Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia.
