Alexandria University Launches Medical Convoy to Borg El Arab City, Extending Healthcare Services to Local Residents
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and under the supervision of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector headed by Dr. Saeed Allam, the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, the Medical Research Institute, and the Higher Institute of Health at the University of Alexandria, in collaboration with the “Doctor for You” fraternity at the Faculty of Medicine, organised a comprehensive therapeutic medical convoy to Borg Al Arab area west of Alexandria to serve the people of the area, and its work continued for six days.
Dr. Wafaa El-Sehli, professor at the Faculty of Medicine and rapporteur of the convoy committee at Alexandria University, stated that the total number of cases that were treated during the period of the convoy’s work amounted to 974 cases in various medical specialties, as follows:
1. Internal diseases 254
2. Nutrition 26
3. Gynaecology 39 and ultrasound 36
4. Neurological and Psychological 40
5. Heart and blood vessels 32
6. Ear, Nose and Throat 110
7. Children 163
8. Orthopaedics 103
9. Chest 41
10. Ophthalmology 81
11. Dermatology 71
12. Surgery 18
13. In addition, 40 cases were transferred to Alexandria University Hospitals to receive specialized medical treatment.
