In-House Students’ Research Convention winners declared

ALIGARH  : The Innovation Council and University Incubation Centre (IC and UIC), Aligarh Muslim University organized an “In-House Students’ Research Convention” as part of the Sir Syed Day Celebrations, 2023. The objective of the annual event is to foster scientific temper and inspire innovative thinking among the students.

The IC and UIC invited abstract submissions from PhD, undergraduate and postgraduate students belonging to five academic disciplines, including Agriculture; Health Sciences, including Pharmacy and Nutrition; Engineering and Technology; Basic Sciences and Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce, Management, Law, International Studies, and Technology. The students were asked to submit their abstracts either individually or in groups of three members and a total of 63 proposals were received under various categories.

The first prize in Agriculture Sciences went to Sadiya Firdaus (M. Tech, Processing and Food Engineering) while the second prize was won by Mohd Sabeel (Agricultural Economics and Business Management).

In Humanities and Social Sciences, the team of Aiman Khan and Shams Uddoha Khan (MA English) won the first prize while the second prize went to Ashmil Shas Ahammad (Economics).

Depanshu Varshney (Physics) won the first prize in Basic Sciences, while the second and third prizes in this category went to Mohammad Yasir Khan (PhD Chemistry) and Mohd Zeeshan (PhD Chemistry), respectively.

In the Engineering and Technology category, Mohammad Muaz and Azam Raza (Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre) won the first prize while Lavish Upadhyay (B.Tech. Electrical Engineering) got the second prize and the third prize went to the team of Mohd Mazin Jameel, Nabeel Ali and Syed Hashir Faheem (Electronics Engineering).

First prize in Health Sciences went to Aisha Samreen (PG Dental Surgery), while the second prize went to the team of Alvia Farheen (M.Sc. Final Zoology), Sabahat Ariba (B.Sc. Final Zoology). Sara Izhar (M.Tech. Processing and Food Engineering) received the third prize.

The first, second and third prize winners will be felicitated in the Sir Syed Day function on October 17, with cash prizes of Rs. 4000/-, Rs 3000/- and Rs 2500/-, respectively, along with a memento and certificate of appreciation.

The participants were asked to present their work in 8-10 minutes, followed by a Question and Answer session.

The submissions were judged in two phases by a large group of faculty members belonging to different departments of studies, while a panel of judges, including Prof. S.K. Singh, Prof. Mehdi Abbas Rizvi, Prof. Amanullah Khan, Prof. Imtiaz Hasnain and Prof. Waseem Ahmad judged the submissions in the final round.
