The event was a momentous occasion, celebrating the academic achievements of 715 brilliant graduates who successfully completed their undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.
During the ceremony, 452 B.Tech. students specializing in various fields, including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Design, Computer Science and Social Sciences, Computer Science and Biosciences, and Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, were honoured. Additionally, 237 M.Tech. students, including 4 dual-degree holders in Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, and Computational Biology, along with 26 Ph.D. recipients in Computational Biology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Human-Centered Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences and Humanities, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
This year’s ceremony marked a significant shift in tradition as the institute introduced a new convocation attire. Departing from the conventional colonial robe and hat, the institute introduced a fresh and culturally resonant convocation attire. Graduates, resplendent in traditional kurtas and stoles, exuded a sense of regality and pride as they walked across the stage. The change not only symbolized the institute’s commitment to embracing its cultural heritage but also highlighted the significance of tradition and identity in academic milestones.
The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chancellor, Hon’ble LG, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena. In his address to the students, he extended his heartfelt congratulations, recognizing their unwavering dedication and perseverance that led them to this significant milestone. He commended not only the students but also the educators, parents, mentors, friends, and supporters who stood by them throughout their journey.
Prof. Ranjan Bose, Director IIIT-Delhi, delivered a motivational address to the graduating students and presented the Director’s Report for the year 2022-23. Encouraging the graduands he said, “Choose the path that excites you, challenges your intellectual capabilities, harnesses your talents, and engages your mind most productively. What makes you unique is the spark that you carry within. Remember, the line between ‘what is possible’ and ‘not possible’ is for you to draw, not for others to define. However, don’t confuse success with excellence, which should be your primary focus.”
Shri Kiran Karnik, Chairman Board of Governors, presided over the ceremony, expressing warm congratulations on this remarkable achievement. He acknowledged the students’ hard work and said “I offer my warmest congratulations on this remarkable achievement. Your journey at IIIT-Delhi has been one of diligence, exploration, and personal growth. Today marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication to learning, and the pursuit of excellence. You have exhibited not only academic prowess but also the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and the ability to overcome challenges. I salute your resilience and adaptability, particularly as you navigate the uncharted waters of the global pandemic that has profoundly shaped the course of your education.” While addressing the graduates.
