PG orientation programme organized

 

ALIGARH  : An intra-departmental postgraduate orientation programme has been organized at the Department of Pathology, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University for the orientation of 15 MD pathology students and other resident doctors.

In her address, Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, highlighted the history of inception and evolution of the department and introduced the eminent faculty members who created a niche for them and brought name and fame to the department.

She outlined the histopathological tissue processing and responsibilities of residents posted in histopathology lab. She discussed the rules and regulations of MD examination and urged the students to get acquainted with the University’s environment and its traditions and history.

Prof. Mahboob Hasan, Chairman, Department of Pathology, introduced the faculty members and staff and described the specialties with the 6 laboratories available in the department.

Prof. Kiran Alam and Prof. Roobina Khan spoke about cytopathology lab, while Prof. Mohd. Jaseem Hassan explained the precautions residents have to take while being posted in blood and component bank. Dr. Hena Ansari described facilities in chemical pathology lab and Dr. Mohd. Feroz Alam elaborated on the duties of residents in central lab. Dr. Suhailur Rehman discussed the tests done in hematology lab and expectations from the first and second year residents.

Dr. Bushra Siddiqui delivered a talk on “How to make a good PowerPoint presentation”, while Prof. Kafil Akhtar made a presentation on “How to cite references correctly”.

Dr. Bushra Siddiqui coordinated the programme and Dr. Murad Ahmed extended a vote of thanks.
