Inter-school events held to mark Sir Syed Day

ALIGARH : In a series of competitions held by the Aligarh Muslim University Girls School, marking the birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a large number of students from different schools under the university administration participated and won prizes in various literary and cultural events.

Shazia and Juveria of AMU ABK High School (Girls) shared the first prize in the inter-school Nazm Khwani (Poem recitation) competition, while Muskan Zaheer and Zunaira Khan of AMU Girls’ School together won the second prize and Preeti and Nabila Nausheen of Senior Secondary School (Girls) shared the third prize. Alfiya Naaz and Tabassum Parveen of AMU City Girls High School were given consolation prize.

In the school level Mehndi Designing Competition for the students of Classes IX To XII, Noor Fatima and Hiba Khan won the first prize, while Farzin Fatima got the second prize and Sadiye Parveen and Mustabshira Zafar shared the third prize. Alfisha Rahat was given the consolation prize.

Under the group of students from Class VI to VIII, Alisha and Sara Kulsoom shared the first prize, while Shazia and Rabia shared the second prize and Iqra Naaz and Samiya Rashid jointly received the third prize. Khansa Khan got the consolation prize.

Samiya Ahmad got the first prize in the intra-school essay writing competition held on ‘Sir Syed Ahmed Khan: Man of a great vision’.  Zoya Fatima and Azka Shafiya Khan shared the second prize while Bhavya Saxena and Afrin Khatoon jointly received the third prize.

In the intra-school Bait Bazi competition, Fatima Hasan was judged first while Maryam and Bushra Khan were declared second and third respectively.

Wara Fatima won the first prize in the intra-school Quiz competition while Nazia Nazir and Asma Khatoon jointly got the second prize and Aanya Swarnima, Vartika Chauhan and Akshita Singh shared the third prize. Zainab was given the consolation prize.

Dr. Mohammad Haneef, Department of Urdu, Women’s College and Mr. Fazlur Rahman, Assistant PRO judged the competition.

Earlier, welcoming the judges and the participants, Principal of the school, Ms. Amna Malik and the Vice Principal, Ms. Arshi Zafar Khan urged the students to participate in the competitions with full zeal and a positive attitude, as it would help in their personality development.

Seven AMU schools were represented in the competition.

Mr. Alam presented a poem on Sir Syed while Bhawya Saxena presented the sayings of Sir Syed.

Khadeeja Khan conducted the programme and Tayyab Fatima Mazhar extended a vote of thanks.
