AMU Faculty Members Secure Patent titled “Split Sprint Timer”

 

Aligarh : Prof Ikram Hussain, Department of Physical Education, and Prof Ekram Khan, Department of Electronic Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with Dr. Fuzail Ahmad and Er. Anand Agrawal secured a patent titled “Split Sprint Timer” from the Intellectual Property Office, New Delhi. The patent, bearing the number 456666, was officially granted on the 4th of October 2023.

The Split Sprint Timer is a device designed to accurately measure the time taken by athletes to complete sprints, offering a significant advantage in sports such as track and field, hockey, soccer, American football, and handball. Coaches and athletes can utilize this device to precisely gauge the time required for each sprint phase, facilitating targeted improvements in sprint performance.

This patented invention comprises various components, including a stopwatch with start, stop, and lap functions, and a digital display that shows elapsed time and completed laps, providing immediate feedback to athletes. It is a versatile tool adaptable to a range of sports, allowing athletes of all levels to enhance their performance and monitor their progress.
