World Heritage Day celebrated through Webinar under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’
Jammu: School Education Quality Management Cell of Directorate of School Education Jammu today celebrated world heritage day by organising a webinar (online conferencing) under *Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat* programme, wherein teachers from Tamil Nadu and Jammu and Kashmir participated.
Under EBSB programme every state and union territory in the country is paired with another state or union territory and the partner states have to carry out a structured engagement with one another in different spheres like language, literature, cultural events and tourism. The paired states and union territories have signed MoUs with each other, delineating a set of activities that would have to be carried out over a period of time.
The programme commenced with a welcome note presented by Division Coordinator ECCE Jaswinder Kour, enlightening all the participants with a brief introduction of Jammu and Kashmir.
Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta also graced the occasion as chief guest. She welcomed all the participants, especially the teachers of Tamil Nadu and stressed upon the objective of the EBSB programme which is to promote better understanding of diverse cultural heritage of India among the students and teachers by conducting such interactive activities throughout the year. She also lauded the efforts of organising team and asked for conducting more such innovative and informative programmes in future as well which will strengthen the spirit of unity in diversity.
Distinguished speakers of the occasion were Anwar Khan, RO, SIE, Jammu, Nazir Ahmed Itoo, Lecturer, DIET Banihal, Tapasya Sharma, RO, SIE Jammu and Dr Sarita Sharma, Teacher.
They gave presentations on different historical places of the UT of J&K like Mughal Road, Mand, Darga Hazrat Bal, Jama Masjid, Hari Parbat, Mubarak Mandi and Shankar Acharaya Temple respectively. All the speakers presented a brief historical background and importance of these historical Monuments and places.
The dignitaries from Tamilnadu who attended the online conference were Ramkuwar Devi From Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Chrompet, Chennai, Indra Sankar, Principal and 5 teachers namely, Jayasree, Jayalakshmi, Prema, Viji Siva, Kalpana. They presented rich cultural heritage of Tamilnadu and shared details about the Temples of Mahabalipuram, Madurai Meenakshi Amman, Brahadeeswarar, Rameswaram and Thiruvalluvar, Vivekanda Rock Memorial of Kanyakumari.
Deepak Sharma, RO, SIE, Jammu also interacted with the guests amusing everyone with his greetings in Tamil language.
Participants were overwhelmed with the response they received from each side.
The Program ended with a vote of thanks from Jaswinder Kour with a hope that more such interactions will be held in future as well. At the end, appreciation was extended to Sohail Wani DRG for successfully coordinating the whole event.
