Austria invests in UNDP to strengthen gender equality, the rule of law and democratic governance
New York – The Government of Austria has contributed EUR 1.03 million (USD 1.13 million) to UNDP’s regular ‘core’ resources. This flexible form of support is critical for UNDP’s efforts to respond to urgent needs around the world while addressing longer-term and emerging development challenges using integrated and innovative development solutions.
UNDP thanks Austria for the continued support through flexible funding and remains committed to strengthening the collaboration further to progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As part of this effort, UNDP looks forward to continuing working with Austria on shared development priorities including gender equality, climate action, the rule of law and democratic governance.
Flexible core resources enable UNDP to be present in countries before, during and after a crisis hits. This is critical to be able to deliver urgent support for sustainable recovery with speed and at scale, while building resilience to future shocks. In addition, core contributions help to strengthen UNDP’s oversight and accountability functions and ensures the organization can continue to deliver programmes effectively, efficiently and in line with the highest standards of transparency.
