DC Pulwama kick starts distribution of free ration among BPL and AAY beneficiaries

Pulwama: Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer today kick started the distribution of 5kg rice, per soul, free ration under Prime Minister’s Gareeb Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) scheme to the BPL and AAY beneficiaries of the district.
Under the Scheme FCS&CA department is distributing more than 17000 quintals of rice among the 349318 beneficiaries of the district.
Assistant Director, Food and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that special efforts are being made to provide free ration among the BPL and AAY categories during this crucial period and said that the district administration is taking every possible step to come to the assistance of the poor and needy.
While hailing the employees of the department, DC said that the department is taking precautionary measures to contain the COVID-19 spread in letter and spirit, while distributing food grains.
