Madhya Pradesh: 50 lakh cotton protective masks to be made for protection from COVID-19

Bhopal : In a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a decision was taken to get 50 lakh cotton protective masks prepared by the state government for protection from COVID-19 under the first phase. These masks are more economical than the other masks sold in the market and can be reused after washing.

It was informed in the meeting that these masks will be made available to all ration card holders of the state. On one hand, the manufacturing of these masks will provide employment to women of urban areas and on the other the masks will also keep the citizens safe from Corona infection. The cost of the mask is only Rs 12. In the first phase, 50 lakh masks will be made.

Online registration from April 23

Under this scheme, the women of urban areas can get themselves registered from April 23, 2020. The first purchase order will be released on May 03. The distribution of the masks will take place from May 10. Women will make these masks at their home itself. Order of a maximum one thousand masks will be released to every woman.

The Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Shri Vivek Porwal and Shri Nankumaran were present at the meeting.
