Workshop organized on regimental therapies

 

ALIGARH  : The Department of Ilaj-Bit-Tadbeer, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a one-day national workshop on the “Scope of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer in the management of common Rheumatological disorders”. The academic deliberation aimed to raise awareness regarding common rheumatological disorders and to discuss various risk factors and their holistic management.

In his presidential remarks at the inaugural session, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez discussed the role of regimenal therapies in the management of rheumatological disorders and how they are proving better than the other modes of treatment.

The chief guest, Prof. Raisur Rahman, Former Advisor (Unani) and Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, appreciated the work done by the department of Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer in improving the quality of life of the patients.

The guests of honour, Prof. M.M.H. Siddiqui, Former Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU, and Prof. Jamal Akhtar, Former Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Lucknow University, discussed the different regimens that could be possibly used in rheumatological disorders.

Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, stated that the Department of Ilaj-Bit-Tadbeer is successfully contributing to the management of different disorders in patients.

Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, discussed the significance of leech therapy in correcting rheumatological disorders, adding that the leech tank of the department stores different species and a large quantity of leeches for this purpose.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof. Mohd Anwar, Chairman of the department and the Organizing Secretary focused on the management of rheumatological disorders through regimens of Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer and discussed the achievements of the department.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Asia Sultana enlightened the delegates about various regimens available in the department for the management of rheumatological disorders.

Dr. Fatima Khan conducted the programme and Dr. Mohammad Saad Ahmed Khan proposed a vote of thanks.

During the workshop, Prof. Hammad Usmani delivered a lecture on “Ankylosing Spondylosis: Diagnosis and Management”, while Dr. Sohail Ahmad spoke on “Rheumatoid Arthritis and its Clinical manifestations, diagnosis and management”. Prof. Asia Sultana talked about the “Medicinal Leeches for healthy Synovium and Synovial fluid” and Dr Sohrab Ahmad Khan discussed the “Potential of Physiotherapy in Arthritis”, while Prof. Raisur Rahman gave an overview of “Gout and its Management through Unani Medicine”.

A live demonstration of Hijama (Cupping Therapy) was performed by Dr. Farkhunda Jabin, while a practical demonstration on Leech Therapy was carried out by Dr. Mohammad Shoaib and Physiotherapy modalities were demonstrated by Dr. Sohrab Ahmad Khan.

About 140 delegates from different parts of the country, including Delhi, Bihar, Prayagraj, Lucknow, attended the workshop.
