AMU Faculty Excels in International Conference

Aligarh : Dr. Asif Ali, Associate Professor in the Architecture Section at the University Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University, showcased his scholarly contribution at the 5th International Conference on Architectural History and Theory at the University of London Senate House. Organized by SPACE (Studies of Planning and Architecture Consulting & Education), the conference featured Dr. Asif’s research paper titled “Stylistic Influence of Mughal Architecture on British Colonial Mosques in Malaysia.”

Collaborating with Prof. Ahmad Sanusi Hassan from Universiti Sains Malaysia, the research aimed to gauge the impact of Mughal architectural styles on colonial mosques in Malaysia. Three case studies from North India, representing early, high, and late Mughal periods, were compared with three British colonial-era mosques in Malaysia, employing a similarity model and feature matching.

Dr. Asif’s representation of AMU was marked by scholarly insights on Islamic architecture to an international audience. The conference, held at the prestigious University of London, attracted experts and scholars globally, enhancing the academic experience for all participants.
