Awareness Programmes Held on World AIDS Day

 

Aligarh : In alignment with the global initiative on the World AIDS Day, awareness programmes were held at Aligarh Muslims University.

The B.Sc Nursing 3rd Semester students of the College of Nursing performed a ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street play) at the Trauma Centre OPD, JNMCH, AMU.

Prof Farha Azmi, Principal of the College said that the objective of the street play was to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, its causes and diagnostic evaluations like the ELISA test.

The awareness programme at the Paramedical College commenced with a ceremony, featuring speeches by the students and staff.

Dr. Waasil Hasan, Dr. Anuradha Singh, Ms. Saima Ahsan, and Ms. Aatika Khan, were present in the programme. The World AIDS Day Pledge was taken by all the students and staff. Ms. Insha Firoz conducted the programme.

Prof. Akram Ahmad Khan, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, AMU organized a pledge taking ceremony. The Chairpersons of different Departments, Coordinator, B.Sc. (Ag), faculty members, non-teaching staff and undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral students of the faculty participated in the ceremony.

Faculty of Medicine, Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, AMU observed World AIDS Day, with Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine administering the pledge to the staff members.

The Department of Obstetric and Gynaecology organized the AIDS Sensitization Programme for the staff and workers of the Department and organized a Quiz Competition and a lecture on HIV.

Prof. Zehra Mohsin, Chairperson of the Department administered the pledge to the faculty members and staff.

AMU City Girls’ High School organised an awareness programme, wherein Dr. Md. Alamgir, the Principal administered the oath for prevention and awareness of AIDS. Mrs. Tehmina Ashraf described how we can prevent AIDS, what the precautions we should take and how successfully we can be fighting the syndrome and getting rid of it.

Begum Sultan Jahan Hall at AMU conducted a solemn pledge ceremony for the staff, uniting them in a commitment to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS.

Under the guidance of Senior Hall, Ms. Insha Siddiqui, the event sought to emphasize the importance of solidarity in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
