Amrit Kaal Vimarsh Viksit Bharat@2047: IIIT-Delhi Hosts Insightful Development Dialogue on Opportunities in the Internet of Things (IoT)
New Delhi : On Wednesday, 13th December 2023, IIIT-Delhi hosted an enlightening lecture as part of Amrit Kaal Vimarsh Viksit Bharat@2047. The event featured distinguished speakers Mr. Saibal Dutt (Founder Director, Connected Sense and Power) and Mr. Sankalp Dongre (Co-founder, Edge-Lite Technologies). The focal point of this development dialogue was ‘Opportunities in the Internet of Things (IoT): Perspectives from Today into the Future.’ A diverse audience comprising students, faculty, and research scholars from IIIT-Delhi and other institutions in Delhi actively participated in the event.
In the welcome address, Prof. Anuj Grover, Head of Centre for Intelligent Product Development (CiPD) expressed, “Internet of Things is the first step to putting Intelligence into products. This is the enabler. Today, a lot of IoT enablement is done through imported electronics. In the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, there are five thrust areas, viz – 1) Empowered Indians; 2) Thriving and Sustainable Economy; 3) Innovation, Science, and Technology; 4) Good Governance and Security; and 5) India in the World. Indigenizing IoT product and services design fits well into all these five thrust areas. I am glad that Mr. Saibal Dutt and Mr. Sankalp Dongre, who have decades of experience on IoT product and services design, are here to share their experience and vision with all of us.”
The session unfolded in two segments, with Mr. Saibal Dutt leading the first section. Mr. Dutt has more than 4 decades of experience in the electronics industry and has worked extensively on the Internet of Things. His comprehensive lecture delved into a myriad of IoT applications, ranging from Smart Homes to Natural Resource Management and Automotive sectors. Mr. Dutt also provided insights into the requisite technologies and challenges, touching upon the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping the future of IoT.
