Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences Reopens with Exciting New Exhibit for Public Viewing
The Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences, located on the first floor of the Lister Hill Library at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has reopened for public walk-in hours noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.
The current exhibit, “Snapshots,” explores how society has historically defined women’s mental health and includes themes centered on anatomy, motherhood, mental health and more, encouraging visitors to consider their own perceptions and definitions of women’s health.
The Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences is dedicated to the preservation and display of equipment, instruments and objects that represent the history and development of the health sciences in the areas of education, research and practice in the United States, with special emphasis on the state of Alabama and its contributors to the practice of medicine. The scope of the collection includes medicine, nursing, ophthalmology, dentistry, public health and allied health, among others.
