Students of UrFU became winners and prize-winners of “Scientific Olympus”, the XXVI Regional Competition of research works of students of institutions of higher and secondary education of the Sverdlovsk region. 13 students received diplomas of the first, second and third degree, and 32 students were awarded with incentive prizes. The works of the winners were presented in humanitarian, natural and technical areas: history, chemistry, architecture, psychology, physics, construction, etc. In total, more than 80 people were awarded according to the results of the competition.

The jury, in particular, highly appreciated the projects, which are aimed at studying the methods of identification of students in the conditions of digitalization, obtaining new energy-saving technologies, developing methods to improve the efficiency of the country’s agro-industrial complex.

Thus, Marina Byzova, Master’s student of the Department of Experimental Biology and Biotechnology of UrFU, received an award for studying the use of xylotrophic fungi to increase plant resistance in agriculture.

“Xylotrophic fungi are very promising sources of biologically active substances. Although, the use of their extracts has been little investigated. In our work, we talk about their use as preparations for increasing plant resistance in agriculture, but due to their properties, they have potential applications also for nutraceuticals and medicine,” explains Marina Byzova.

According to the results of the competition, the winners, prize-winners and their scientific supervisors will receive monetary prizes and certificates of participation.
