Aide et Action partners with iDream Education to launch free learning app for K-12 rural students
New Delhi: The app is available in Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, and Oriya language New Delhi, 23rd April 2020: Aide et Action in partnership with iDream Education today launched a free digital learning mobile application “iDream Learning App” that caters to the K-12 education segment. The mobile application aims to provide free, uninterrupted access to learning while staying at home and enable holistic development for children hailing from rural areas. The initiative targets 10,000 students in a timespan of one month. Subsequently, it will be widened to reach children in urban-sub-urban and rural locations. The initiative comes in the wake of the lockdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to the closure of schools, leaving digital Education as the only choice to sustain the momentum of academics.
Taking into account that most children in rural areas begin their Education in the mother tongue, the app provides diverse content in 9 languages- Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, and Oriya. The app caters to all the subjects for classes 1 to 12 with content available in the form of animated video lessons connected to real life, free activities and project making, life skills, including a rich digital book library.
“Learning for some of the most underprivileged children in Aide et Action Project locations across India, during the COVID-19 lockdown and beyond, has been possible because of the special features of iDream Learning App, which, among others, include the availability of content in different languages and soft-skills related content and videos. Its ability to accommodate many other features based on the emerging needs of its diverse users make the iDream Learning App suitable for school children in many other parts of the world as well,” said Mr. Ravi Patap Singh, International Program Director – Aide et Action International.
The launch coincides with International Girls in ICT Day, which aims to empower and motivate women to choose careers in the information and technology domain. Information Communication Technology (ICT) has proven to be a crucial enabler to Education. Unfortunately, thousands of ‘last mile learners’ and rural students are disconnected from this potent tool. The app is a step forward in fulfilling the goal of social and digital inclusion.
“iDream Learning App has been specially designed to deliver easy, enjoyable, and continued access to digital learning for every child irrespective of his language, location, and socioeconomic status. The current times demand that we ensure an in-home digital education supplement for every student in the remotest corner of our country,” said Mr. Puneet Goyal – Director, iDream Education.
Aide et Action is currently supporting more than 118,000 School children and 4260 teachers in 1766 schools across India and Nepal through its educational projects implemented directly or with support of local NGO partners.
