Smiling Tree Partners with Hansraj College, Delhi University, for an Environmental Initiative: A Blossoming Plantation Drive
Taking a significant step towards environmental sustainability, Smiling Tree has partnered with Hansraj College, University of Delhi, to organize a vibrant plantation drive. The initiative, which involved the planting of 500 Petunias, Dianthus, and Panzie flowers within the college premises, underlines Smiling Tree’s commitment to enhance green cover in the College.
The Principal of Hansraj College, Prof. (Dr.) Rama, actively participated in the initiative by planting saplings alongside the Smiling Tree team. This joint effort not only beautifies the college campus but also underscores the importance of collaborative environmental stewardship.
Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, the visionary Founder of Smiling Tree, emphasized the organization’s dedication to fostering an eco-friendly ethos. Dr. Kwatra stated, “Smiling Tree has always been motivating everyone that celebrating an occasion need not be at the cost of the environment. By planting trees, we can honor an individual, commemorate an event, and memorialize a loved one. Every tree is a living legacy.”
Acknowledging the crucial role of tree plantation in combating climate change, Dr. Kwatra also underscored the necessity for broader initiatives. He asserted, “To slow climate change, people need to do much more than plant trees. We need to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions by transitioning to renewable energy sources, like solar and wind. A sustainable lifestyle is what is desired. Occasions like today provide us an opportunity to meet, discuss, and spread awareness about how we can change and adapt ourselves to eco-friendly ways.”
The collaboration between Smiling Tree and Hansraj College exemplifies the power of partnerships in driving positive change. Beyond enhancing the aesthetics of the college campus, the plantation drive serves as a valuable platform for environmental education and awareness.
