Usha hosts Karra and Kathi Samu event– 2024
Telangana : Usha International, India’s leading consumer durables brand, collaborated with the Sarvodaya Youth Organisation and the local Samu Organisation to celebrate Telangana’s indigenous martial art forms at the “Usha Karra and Kathi Samu – 2024” event. Yesterday, the event was held at the Indhira Priyadarshini Stadium in Adilabad, which had over 100 participants of all age groups. The winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest, Mr Rathod Ramesh, who is the District Revenue Officer of Adilabad District, Telangana state, and Mr Vishnu Vardhan, who is the District Public Relations Officer of Adilabad District, Telangana state.
The martial arts competition concluded with impressive performances from participants across disciplines. The first prize was awarded to R Pooja followed by R. Vanitha and K Sridevi. The tournament was a grand celebration of martial arts expertise since every winner showed dedication to their discipline.
Karra Samu (aka Karru Samu or Karra Seva), a traditional martial art form using stylised sticks and swords, is amongst the oldest martial art forms, dating back to more than 3,000 years, and was originally practised by the warriors and villagers to defend themselves. This art employs various kinds of swords and the arena where it is performed is known as ‘Garidi’.
