18th Annual Sports meet of CGC Landran concludes

The three-day 18th annual sports meet 2024, of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran, concluded today. The chief guest at the event ace weightlifter Vikas Thakur, Arjuna Awardee and three-time Commonwealth medallist, conferred medals and certificates upon Jagdish Kumar Mandal and Jhanvi, adjudged as CGC’s best athlete of the year in male and female categories, respectively. Winners of all the track and field events including races, javelin throw, discus throw, shotput, in addition to football, volleyball, basketball and Kabaddi were also felicitated.

In the long jump competition (girls), Divyanjali bagged the gold medal while Khushboo won silver; Janhvi won the bronze medal. In the long jump competition (Boys), Abhinav bagged gold while Mukul won the silver medal. Ansh won the bronze medal. Jhanvhi won the gold medal in 400 meters race for girls. The 4×100 relay race for boys was won by the team of Tarun, Sahil, Adnan and Simroj; while the team comprising Nihalini, Richa, Rimpi and Janvi won the 4×100 relay race for girls. Sanju won the gold medal in discus throw competition for girls while Dhruv Singh bagged the gold in discus throw competition for boys. Javelin throw competition for boys was won by Robin Singh while in the Javelin throw competition for girls, Sonam took the gold medal. Neha Bisht won the gold medal in the shotput competition for girls while Vishal Makkar bagged the shotput gold in boys’ category.
