Interactive session and lecture on Alternate banking

ALIGARH  : The Department of Business Administration (DBA), Faculty of Management Studies and Research (FMSR), Aligarh Muslim University, organized an interactive session for its students with some of its alumni who have succeeded in making a good career for them in entrepreneurship and the corporate world.

Prof. Ayesha Farooq, Dean, FMSR, welcomed the guests, while Prof. Jamal A. Farooquie, Chairman, DBA, underscored the significance of fostering strong alumni relations, particularly in assisting current students with placements and career guidance.

The interactive session featured insightful perspectives from the alumni.

Mr. Aamir Irfan, Head of Sales and Marketing, MAG Lubricants, shared his journey to success, emphasizing the need to develop innate leadership qualities in students and encourage them to pursue their aspirations with determination.

Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Additional Director at PPAC, stressed the importance of staying updated and continuously learning to thrive in today’s dynamic business environment.

Mr. Shahin Alam, Chairman and CEO, Agmire and Anglo-American Group of Companies, urged students to nurture big dreams and work hard to fulfil them and return back to society and the nation.

Mr. Anjaneya Gautam, Director, JM Financial Services, elaborated on the financial services and underscored the value of hard work and perseverance in achieving success.

Mr. Danish Hilal, Vice President, 13SQFT, underscored the importance of passion and discipline in navigating one’s career path effectively.

Mr. Salman Mahmood, Deputy General Manager, FCI emphasized the importance of curiosity and continuous learning to be adaptive to market demands.

Mr. Shakaib Azhar Chaudhary, Associate Director, IDP Education, discussed strategy planning, management consulting, and the significance of interpersonal skills and networking.

Prof. Parvaiz Talib summarized the key discussions and takeaways from the interactive session.

In another programme, the Co-Curricular Committee, Department of Business Administration organized an extension lecture on “Alternate Banking in India: Opportunities for Management Graduates”. The objective of this lecture was to make students aware of the opportunities in Islamic Banking in India.

Mr. Shaheen Alam, CEO, Agmire and Anglo-American Group, through a video message outlined the philosophy of his life and career journey, emphasizing the three pronged principle of a successful life – learning, earning, and returning.

He delved into his experience in Islamic banking, highlighting its core principle of trust and outlining key differences from conventional banking. He provided insights into Islamic banking practices and his upcoming initiatives focused on improving the lives of underprivileged communities in India.

He expressed desire to provide annual financial support to the department for research in Islamic and alternative banking, encouraging students to explore these fields through summer internships.

The session concludes with a Q&A session, followed by the closing remarks by Prof. Valeed A Ansari.
