Two-Day National Seminar on NEP-2020 & Languages Concludes
Aligarh : The two-day National Seminar on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, organized jointly by the Marathi Section under the Modern Indian Languages department of Aligarh Muslim University and the Central Hindi Institute, Agra, concluded with a closing ceremony addressing the theme of “National Education Policy-2020 and Languages.”
The Chief Guest, AMU, Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran, IPS, highlighted that the inception of the National Education Policy-2020 envisions a distinct educational system that amalgamates ancient knowledge and teaching methodologies with modern curricula. He emphasized that the policy will not only encourage the exploration of traditional languages and roots but will also enrich cultural experiences among students.
Leading the concluding session, Professor Mirza Asmar Beg, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, emphasized the fundamental right of every individual to receive quality education. He stressed the need for the NEP-2020 to ensure a quality education system for all students, irrespective of their geographical location, paying special attention to marginalized communities.
Former General Manager of Employment News, Mr. Hasan Zia, shared his insights, stating that the NEP-2020 marks a revolutionary change in the history of Indian education post-independence.
Professor Ziaur Rahman Siddiqui from the Urdu Department of AMU, expressed that learning one’s language, culture, and traditions is not a barrier but rather a significant advantage for educational, social, and technological progress.
Dr. Taher H Pathan (Seminar Director), said that NEP-2020 has been formulated considering the educational needs of the present and future generations in light of the rich tradition of ancient Indian knowledge and thoughts.
Prof. Pratibhas, Chairperson, Dept of Mass Communication, explained the significance of Mass media in NEP 2020.He further explained that mass media provides information and information leads to development of knowledge and skills.
Mr. Omar S Peerzada, PRO, AMU, elaborated on the steps taken by AMU to implement the National Education Policy, highlighting AMU’s pioneering role as the leading university to align with government policies in this regard.
On concluding day, Mr. Nisar Ahmed from the AMU NEP Cell explored the intricacies of the NEP-2020. Special lectures were also given by Professor Aquil Ahmad, Head of the Department of Philosophy, and Education Consultant Dr. Saleha Zaini, followed by an interactive session with students.
The program was conducted by Dr. Shakir Ahmad Nayku, while Professor M.A. Zargar, Head of the Modern Indian Languages Department, provided a summary of the conference proceedings. Dr. Tamil Selvan paid vote of thanks.
