National Science Day observed
ALIGARH : The Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre, Aligarh Muslim University organized a commemorative programme to mark the National Science Day-2024, which is observed every year to celebrate the invention of the “Raman Effect” by great Indian Physicist, Sir C.V. Raman, for which he earned the Nobel Prize.
Sir CV Raman has a connection with AMU as he was conferred a D.Sc. (honoris causa) degree by the university on 20th November 1931.
The Director of the Centre, Dr. Mohammad Azhar Aziz, highlighted the activities of the center and urged the students to help popularize science among the masses. He said Sir C.V. Raman was conferred a D.Sc. degree, honoris causa, by the Aligarh Muslim University on November 20, 1931.
On this occasion, the M. Tech. 4th semester students – Safia Ahsan, Altaf Husain and Safi Abbas made a presentation on Nobel prizes given in the year 2023 in Physics, Chemistry, and Medicine, while M. Tech. 2nd semester students Bushra Fatima, Suzain and Zainab Zahid made a poster presentation on National Science Day.
Aghna Qasim, an M.Tech. 2nd semester student won the quiz competition, hosted by Dr. Kaseed Anwar, Dr. Swaleha Naseem and Dr. Syed Afzal Ahmad, while Syeda Shabih Zafar (M. Tech. 4th Semester) was declared as the runner up.
Prof. Absar Ahmad motivated students to do innovative research in science. He gave prizes and certificates to the winners of the competitive events.
