Interactive session held on animal welfare

ALIGARH  : The Animal Welfare Club, a students’ outreach at the Aligarh Muslim University held an interactive session to discuss issues related to stray animals in and around the university premises.

Chairing the interactive session, held at the Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery, Dr. Asma Kazmi, President, Fine Arts Club, urged the university community to have compassion for animals and take steps for their welfare as far as they can.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, the President of the Club, Mrs. Nahid Mujeeb discussed various issues, including monthly contributions to fund the treatment of animals, their feeding and timely neutering/spraying to control their population. She urged all to save the stray animals from the vagaries of weather, food scarcity or other calamities and help them when they are in distress.

She emphasized the need for regular neutering/spraying of dogs, post-operative care, setting up of feeding points at different places in University, monthly contribution to fund treatment and food and maintain a handy medicine kit for animals.

The members of the club, including Shanu, Maaz Asif, Moh. Asif, Moh. Irfan, Saima, Naira, Zoha, Shazia, Naira, Arshi and Iram emphasized that we, the humans, owe a responsibility towards animals, irrespective of them being stray or pet, for feeding and taking care of them in our her localities.
