Youth from Around the Globe Share Perspectives on Ural Federal University Campus at World Festival
The participants of the World Youth Festival 2024, which will be held on the territory of the Sirius Federal Territory, got acquainted with the new campus of the Ural Federal University in the Novokoltsovsky district of Ekaterinburg. At the same time, representatives of the university are working on a strategy meeting.
Anastasia Kandalintseva, Deputy Director of the Center of Expert Analysis in the field of campus development of the Directorate for Development of the Novokoltsovsky Campus of UrFU, presented the space. The space includes dormitories, community and medical centers, and the second stage is under construction, which will include buildings of two institutes and a university lyceum. It is the legacy of the University International Sports Festival.
The session organized for university teams by the Institute of Education of the National Research University Higher School of Economics focused on questions that interested WYF participants, particularly those from abroad. These questions pertained to opportunities for international students, research collaborations, youth policy, and global positioning.
“We have different requirements for the campus regarding international activities. However, we are not starting from scratch in our work with international students and employees. Our priority is to position the campus in the international market and establish network partnerships,” explains Sergey Tushin, UrFU Vice-Rector for International Relations.
The strategic session ‘Forming Approaches to the Development of International Campus Activities’ included round tables, discussions, and group work. Deputy heads of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects, and the State Duma participated in the session.
Dmitry Tolmachev, Director of Campus Development at UrFU, and Dmitry Loevsky, Vice-Rector of the university for Educational Work, participated in a discussion about positioning the Novokoltsovsky Campus on the international market. They discussed best practices for developing products for international students and employees, as well as effective instruments for youth policy.
