Bremen Study Prize 2023 Recognizes Outstanding Achievements

On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, the “unifreunde” awarded the Bremen Study Prize for outstanding theses. Three dissertations and two master’s theses received awards. The company Bruker Daltonics GmbH & Co. KG donated a special prize for a master’s thesis.

Professor Michal Kucera, Vice President for Research and Transfer at the University of Bremen, warmly congratulated the award winners. “Your curiosity and dedication have paid off: you have all written a high-quality master’s thesis or dissertation. For this you were awarded the Bremen Study Prize today.”
The Society of Unifriends has been honoring exceptional academic achievements since 1983. The vice-rector thanked the university friends for their many years of commitment. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the company Bruker Daltonics GmbH and Co. KG for sponsoring a special prize.  

Bremen Senator for Environment, Climate and Science, Kathrin Moosdorf, said: “The University of Bremen is strong in research and invests in young scientists. The numbers show this clearly: there were 300 completed doctorates at the university last year. There are also more than a thousand master’s theses. The students and doctoral candidates write their papers with a lot of creativity and competence and are accompanied by caring professors. The awarding of the study prize today sheds light on particularly outstanding work and gives reason to be pleased about the scientific clout of our university.”

The winners of the Bremen Study Prize 2023 are:

Dissertation in the field of natural and engineering sciences: Dr.-Ing. Alireza Mahzoon, Department of Computer Science: “ Formal Verification of Structurally Complex Multipliers”

Master’s thesis in the field of natural sciences and engineering: Katharina Roß from the biology department: “Network – Coral Reef “To what extent can the mystery “Network Coral Reef” contribute to promoting system competence?”

Dissertation in the field of social sciences and humanities: Dr. Irina Zakharova from the Department of Cultural Studies ” Understanding data studies – A methodological and conceptual inquiry into research on datafication “

Master’s thesis in the field of social sciences and humanities: Phil Kahrs from the department of social sciences: “Forced labor in the Zeven Army Ammunition Facility 1941-1945”

Special prize from Bruker Daltonics GmbH & Co. KG in the field of natural and engineering sciences for Dr. Shokoufeh Faraji from the physics department: “ Physics of quadrupolar and accelerated compact astrophysical objects ”
